Pokemon Go‘s technical problems with PokeStops seem to be getting worse.

Yesterday, Pokemon Go suffered a major glitch when all PokeStops and gyms suddenly starting distributing two items per visit instead of the usual three to five items per stop. While it’s still unclear exactly what Pokemon Go was trying to do on their end, Niantic developers “fixed” the problem by restoring a backup version of their system, one that was missing many of the PokeStops they had added to Pokemon Go over the last few days.
Although Pokemon Go players potentially lost hundreds of PokeStops and gyms, the reboot did manage to bring back item drop rates to their original level.
Just a Temporary Problem

Luckily, the PokeStops and gyms that disappeared yesterday will likely return over the course of the next few days. Once Pokemon Go stops fiddling around with their system, they’ll likely start adding the missing PokeStops and gyms back into the game.
However, it’s pretty clear that Pokemon Go is up to something behind the scenes. Niantic has forced players to download the most recent update twice (after un-forcing the update on Apple devices yesterday,) which is usually a sign that Pokemon Go is about to implement something.
Thanks to a recent interview with a Taiwanese magazine, we know that Pokemon Go‘s likely next move is the addition of Gen 3 Pokemon. The Pokemon Company also accidentally revealed that Pokemon Go will hold another Halloween event for a second consecutive year.
Hopefully, Pokemon Go will stop fiddling with its backend soon, so that players can get back to getting out and catching more Pokemon!
