Just minutes after Nintendo announced a new Pokemon Direct for tomorrow, details about an alleged Pokemon Stars game has leaked onto the Internet along with a couple of alleged images from the game. As always, take these rumors with a big grain of salt, but we should note that similar character sheets of the final evolutions of Pokemon Sun and Moon starter Pokemon leaked last year, so there’s precedent for something like this happening.

The rumor claims that Pokemon Stars will be a direct sequel to Pokemon Sun and Moon and will feature grown-up versions of several Sun and Moon characters. That includes Gladion, who took over the Aether Foundation after his mother’s defeat at the end of Pokemon Sun and Moon. As heavily speculated, the game will be set in the Alola region, which now has gyms instead of the island trials experienced in Pokemon Sun and Moon.
Notably, Pokemon Stars will allegedly have no new Pokemon, which makes sense as it doesn’t mark a new “generation” of Pokemon games. However, there will be new Z-Moves and Necrozma (the third Legendary Pokemon of the Alola region) will have a new forme.
Interestingly, the rumor claims that Pokemon Stars will be released for both the Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo Switch. This would line up with Eurogamer’s original rumor that Stars would be released for the Switch, while keeping to Game Freak’s tradition of not switching platforms in the middle of a generation.
We’ll find out tomorrow whether the rumor is legit or not, but in the meantime check out the alleged leaks in the photo gallery.
Update: For what it’s worth, the alleged screenshot uses the exact same background as the Aether Foundation, as seen below. Chances are someone had fun with Photoshop.
