Today we get a new look and some new details about the recently-revealed Dusk Form Lycanroc, but before we get to that, we’re happy to reveal that you’ll be able to score your own Dusk Form Lycanroc in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

“Only special Rockruff can evolve into a Dusk Form Lycanroc, and neither this Rockruff nor Dusk Form Lycanroc can be caught in normal gameplay. But you can get a special gift of this Rockruff as an early purchase bonus with Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon. Players will be able to receive a special Rockruff that can evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc via Nintendo Network from Friday, November 17, 2017, until Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Evolve this special Rockruff and have an adventure in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moontogether with your Dusk Form Lycanroc!”

So you won’t be able to obtain this Dusk Form Lycanroc without this unique version of Rockruff, and as far as we know, the only way to obtain this special Rockruff is to pre-order Pokémon Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon. We expect there will probably, eventually, be a way for other players to obtain that Rockruff as well, but for now it will be an exclusive reward for the early buyers. If you were already planning to pre-order, additional details are right around the corner on how and when to claim your Rockruff.

Dusk Form Lycanroc shares many characteristics from its Midday Form and Midnight Forms, and this plays into its battle formation as well. From the official update:

“Dusk Form Lycanroc learns both Accelerock and Counter—moves favored by Midday Form and Midnight Form Lycanroc, respectively. Accelerock is a Rock-type physical move that always goes first. Counter is a Fighting-type move that inflicts double the damage received by an opponent’s physical attack. Dusk Form Lycanroc has the Ability Tough Claws, a different Ability than either Midday Form or Midnight Form. Tough Claws greatly increases the power of moves that make direct contact. A Dusk Form Lycanroc with this Ability would likely favor a different style of battle than Midday Form or Midnight Form.”

If you’re going to play no matter what, then you might as well get that pre-order in. No sense in not claiming an exclusive Lycanroc form for your roster, right?
