The new pair of Pokemon games are an “alternate” version of last year’s Pokemon Sun and Moon games, with new storylines and features. While players originally thought the games would be too similar to last fall’s games, recent trailers suggest that this new game is going to be a wildly different experience.

Central to the plotline of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is the mysterious Pokemon Necrozma, which apparently came to the Pokemon world from another dimension. Necrozma can absorb the Legendary Pokemon Solgaleo and Lunala, giving its Attack or Special Attack stats a massive boost.

The new trailer, seen above, confirms that each of Necrozma’s new forms will have its very own Z-Move. Dusk Mane Necrozma, which occurs when Necrozma absorbs Solgaleo, will have access to a Z-Move called Searing Sunraze Smash. Dawn Wings Necrozma, a combination of Necrozma and Lunala, will have the Z-Move Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom. Both moves cause an opponent to be sucked into Ultra Space, where they are then hit by Solgaleo or Lunala’s signature move.

The trailer also reveals that Necrozma will have access to a new move called Photon Geyser, although its effects are currently unknown.

RotomDex

As we reported earlier this week, RotomDex will also have an expanded role in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. As players befriend the floating PokeDex/Pokemon hybrid, RotomDex will unlock new abilities to make the player’s life a lot easier. These powers seem similar to Pokemon X andย Y‘s O-Powers, which gave players temporary boosts to certain abilities and stats. The abilities will be unlocked via a “Roto Loto” feature that gives out the abilities at random.

As seen in the trailer, RotomDex can increase a player’s ability to encounter high level Pokemon in the wild, as well as speed up the hatch time of eggs. A list of other abilities include a temporary XP boost, the ability to purchase items at a discount, a boost in prize money, and the ability to boost a player’s friendship with their Pokemon.

As we mentioned earlier this week, RotomDex will also give players the ability to use two Z-Moves in a single battle. The trailer strongly hints that this ability is only available for the in-game storyline and not in any sort of competitive play.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will come out on November 17th.
