New Xbox Game on PS5 Is a Hit With PlayStation Fans

A new Xbox game has been released on PlayStation 5, and unlike a new PS5 exclusive game, which comes withย a warningย for all those considering purchasing it, this new novelty Xbox release is a hit. Not only has the new game instantly attracted one million players, but it is earning positive reviews over on the PlayStation Store as well. This is great news for PS5 users, but especially PS5 Pro users, as the Xbox game is PS5 Pro enhanced, which not many games are, especially at launch.

The new Xbox game on PS5 is Gears of War: Reloaded, which is the newest Xbox game on PS5, but not the first this year, nor will it be the last this year. For those unfamiliar with Gears of War: Reloaded, it is a remaster of the original Gears of War, a 2006 third-person shooter exclusive to the Xbox 360, and one of the great games of all time. To this end, this marks the first time the game has been released on a PlayStation console, and this applies to the series as a whole. Suffice to say, it is no surprise the iconic Xbox game is drawing lots of attention from PlayStation fans.

PlayStation Store Rating

On the PlayStation Store, Gears of War: Reloaded already has over 3,700 user reviews. And right now, across these user reviews, it has a 4.55 out of 5 rating. This is noticeably higher than its user reviews on other platforms, showing how excited PlayStation fans are to finally check out Gears of War. To this end, it only has 3 out of 5 stars on the Microsoft Store. Meanwhile, on Steam it has a “Mixed” rating with only a 52% approval rating.

One Million Players

Gears of War: Reloaded only released on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X on August 26, but as of August 29, it has already surpassed one million players. The game is available on Xbox Game Pass, so this lessens this achievement, but it’s still a great return for a remaster of a game almost 20 years old. And it appears the bulk of players are on PS5, as this version has far more user reviews than the Xbox and Steam versions of the game. So not only are PS5 players enjoying it, but seemingly checking it out in droves.

For what it is worth, this is not too surprising. In our official review of the new remaster, we note that this release makes a lot of sense for PS5 users, but it doesn’t make a lot of sense for Xbox and PC users who already got a remaster of this game in 2015 in the form of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. The differences between these two versions are minimal. Unsurprisingly, the user reviews reflect this.

All of that said, and as always, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think. Will you be checking out Gears of War: Reloaded on PS5 and PS5 Pro, or do you have another Xbox game in mind?
