As we saw at E3 2017, Sony’s Spider-Man is an impressive-looking game, which pushes the PlayStation 4 Pro to its limits. In fact, according to developer Insomniac Games, the Pro simply isn’t powerful enough to run Spider-Man in native 4K or above 30fps. So, considering Spider-Man comes with limitations on the souped-up PS4 Pro, what will it look like on the standard-issue model? Will players who haven’t upgraded have to deal with downgraded visuals and choppy framerates?

Thankfully, it seems that won’t be the case. When asked about the difference between Spider-Man on the basic PS4 and PS4 Pro, developer Insomniac referenced one of their earlier games.
if you want a comparison, Ratchet & Clank should give you an idea

Insomniac also assured fans that Spider-Man would “run amazing” on the basic hardware.
but the game still looks and runs amazing on standard / slim PS4

Ratchet & Clank (an HD remake of the original PS2 game) was released in April 2016, and received a PS4 Pro patch in November of that year. The patch added 4K and HDR support, and a few other visual tweaks. You can check out a visual comparison between Ratchet & Clank on PS4 and PS4 Pro at the top of this post.
As you can see, the difference between the two versions of Ratchet & Clank isn’t radical. For the most part, it’s barely noticeable. If the difference between Spider-Man on PS4 and PS4 Pro is similar, it seems people playing on the basic model are in for a perfectly acceptable experience. Basically, if you’re playing on a 4K TV, you might want to play on a PS4 Pro, but if you’re still using a 1080p or (god forbid) a 720p TV, the basic model should suit you just fine.
Spider-Man swings exclusively onto PS4 sometime within the first half of 2018.
