Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 Releasing With New Remaster Very Soon

At long last, Nintendo finally treated fans to a massive hour-long Nintendo Direct showcase on September 12th. The showcase started off with an homage to the Super Mario franchise, in celebration of its upcoming 40th anniversary. Along with officially confirming returning voice actors for the new Super Mario Bros movie, Nintendo also confirmed that two Super Mario games are headed to the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 very soon.

Today, Nintendo officially confirmed that the next Mario movie will be called Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Naturally, that means Nintendo is eager to celebrate the Super Mario Galaxy games, with new remasters headed to the Nintendo Switch this October. Today, Nintendo confirmed that Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be re-released for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. These ports will also introduce a few new features for Super Mario Galaxy 2‘s debut on the Switch.

What We Know About Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 on Nintendo Switch

During today’s Nintendo Direct, we got a first look at the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 bundle for Nintendo Switch. Though Super Mario Galaxy has already been available as part of the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection, the game is now finally being released as a standalone option in the Nintendo eShop. It will also be available as part of a bundle with the new Nintendo Switch port of Super Mario Galaxy 2. Though the games are releasing for the original Nintendo Switch, they will also be playable on the Switch 2.

The newly released version of Super Mario Galaxy 2 will feature some new storybook entries from Rosalina’s storybook. The bundle release will also bring two new Amiibo from Super Mario Galaxy – Mario and Rosalina. These figures will arrive on April 2nd. Along with the new Amiibo, we’ll be able to buy a physical, real-life version of Rosalina’s storybook.

In addition to the two-game bundle, the new Switch version of Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Super Mario Galaxy will be available to purchase individually from the Nintendo eShop starting on October 2nd. Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be priced at $39.99 as standalone titles, whereas the bundle to get both games is $69.99.
