The Elder Scrolls 6 Release Date Theory Is the Craziest From Fans Yet

The Elder Scrolls fans have a new Elder Scrolls 6 release date theory, and it may be the craziest one yet. That said, if the theory is accurate, then RPG fans on PC, Xbox, and possibly PS5 as well are going to need to hunker in because the wait isn’t coming to an end next year.

A recent report suggested that The Elder Scrolls 6 release date was going to be sometime in 2027. This report did not narrow down the release date, though. This new theory backs up this report, but provides an exact release date, and this exact release date is hidden in a post about the upcoming physical release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Hidden in this post is “267/270,” which some have taken as July 26, 2027.

A History of Teases

Now, Bethesda is known to cryptically tease future projects via their current games. Way back in the day, it used Redguard to tease Morrowind. More recently, it has used Fallout 4 to tease Starfield and Skyrim to tease Fallout 4. The teases are typically a bit more overt, where this just seems like The Elder Scrolls fans seeing dates in random numbers. Further, it’s one thing to tease the existence of something, and another thing to leak your own release date, especially in a manner as throwaway as a post about the physical edition of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Problems With the Date

The main problem with this theory is the fact that July 26, 2027, is a Monday. It’s not common for games to release on Monday, let alone marquee AAA games. Further, July itself is not a common time to release games, especially marquee AAA games. Everything about the date is a red flag. More than this, if the game is this far out, then it’s unlikely Bethesda Game Studios and Xbox would even have this specific a target date. The pair certainly has a release window in mind, but an exact date in 2027 seems unlikely.

As the poster notes, this is a “crackpot theory.” And it is. There’s something to the speculation, but all the context suggests that it leads nowhere, unlike the tease involving the game’s setting and Starfield, which is undeniable.

All of that said, and as always, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think, or join the conversation over on the ComicBook Forum. Do you think there is anything to this The Elder Scrolls 6 release date theory?
