Trevor Philips is one of the more sadistic characters in Grand Theft Auto V, which is saying quite a bit when you consider how over-the-top and violent Rockstar’s flagship series has always been. While his fellow stars, Michael De Santa and Franklin Clinton, show restraint while committing crimes, Trevor is more likely than not to fly off the handle and engage in an explosive firefight that leaves countless bystanders in the hospital or worse. We learn about Trevor during GTA V, but Rockstar pumped that game full of content, so there is still quite a bit about T that most fans missed as they blasted through the streets of Los Santos.

Here are three facts about Trevor that most GTA players still don’t know.
1) He Has At Least a 10th-Grade Education

Throughout Grand Theft Auto V, Trevor demonstrates that his education might not have been the best. At one point, he thinks Rome is part of the United States. With that in mind, you might assume Trevor dropped out of school relatively early.
There are a few things that point to this not being the case. For one, he does show a good grasp of mathematics, calculating the price of four tons of gold in just a few seconds. That wasn’t necessarily something he had to learn in school, but another part of Trevor’s backstory suggests he at least finished the tenth grade.
Trevor says he joined the Canadian Air Force (CAF) but was kicked out after failing a psychological exam. To join the CAF, you need to be at least 17 years old and have either completed Grade 10 or earned 24 credits of Secondary IV in Quebec. It’s possible that regulations were more lax when Trevor was entering the CAF (or that he lied to recruiters), but this suggests Trevor at least made it through the tenth grade before dropping out.
2) He’s a Great Athlete

Most players probably remember Trevor talking about his hockey career. Supposedly, he was a pretty good player before having a rage-filled run-in with his coach that likely ended any chance of him progressing further. However, that’s not the only athletic pursuit Trevor had in his youth.
If you take Trevor golfing, you’ll hear him talk about how good he was at the sport when he was young. Trevor claims that he was the Canadian under-18 Champion and nearly went pro. Now, Trevor might be lying to impress his fellow golfers, but if we take his comments at face value, it’s no surprise that he’s able to become a triathlon star in GTA V.
Unfortunately, much like his Air Force career, sports didn’t work out for Trevor. On one hand, you wish they had because then he might not have turned into a murderer. On the other, it sounds like he was already well on his way during his youth, if you believe his story about what he did with his hockey stick after his coach made him mad. Let’s just say it makes Happy Gilmore’s skate stabbing incident look relatively tame.
3) He May Have Killed His Brother

You’ll learn quite a bit about Trevor’s mom and dad during GTA V, but Trevor also has a brother who’s only mentioned in one specific section. If you don’t know where to look, you can easily miss this relatively throwaway line about Trevor’s brother Ryan Philips.
In Vinewood, you can find a person cosplaying as a zombie. If you talk to them while playing as Trevor, the conversation will eventually turn to Trevor saying the zombie reminds him of his brother Ryan, who mysteriously died in an “accident.”
He doesn’t outright say it, but Trevor heavily implies that he killed his brother. Trevor says he “wasn’t that fond” of Ryan before talking about the “accident.” Given his propensity for violence, it seems likely that Trevor did off his brother, though he’s not the most reliable narrator, so take this factoid with a small grain of salt.
That said, we know Trevor isn’t above canonically killing major characters. The guy starts GTA V by killing Johnny Klebitz, the star of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned. Would it really be that big of a surprise if the only GTA character to kill off a fellow protagonist also murdered his own brother for being annoying? Definitely not.
