Just yesterday, Valkyria Chronicles 4 was announced giving fans of the long-standing franchise something new to be excited about. Since the announcement went live, SEGA apparently can’t keep the excitement in any longer because a ton of new info has just released about the upcoming title including how DLC characters will return the series to its roots, new high-def screenshots, and more!

The first thing that we know is that when the game first hits Japan, there will be a special edition released called the Valkyria Chronicles 10th Anniversary Memorial Pack. This homage will come bearing a few awesome gifts for fans including the soundtrack, an illustrious art book, and a story DLC with Squad 7 from the original game itself!

The DLC housing the return of these characters will be called ‘Joint Battle With Squad 7’ and will put players once again back into the shoes of Alicia, Edelweiss, Isara, Largo, and Rosie! Even better, once the DLC has been successfully completed, Squad 7 will be unlocked for Chronicles 4!

In addition to the incoming DLC, SEGA has also produced a ton of new screen shots for fans to feast their eyes on. In case you missed the original story:

It is the year 1935 ECโ€ฆ

The continent of Europa is engulfed in the flames of the Second Europan War between the Atlantic Federation and the Autocratic Eastern Imperial Alliance. Although the Federation struggles valiantly against the Empire’s forces, the relentless imperial military machine threatens to consume them. With victory slipping away, the Federation executes Operation Northern Cross: a last-ditch attempt to capture the imperial capital and end the war.

Commander Claude Wallace and his loyal childhood friends in Squad E are sent to fight for the desperate operation’s success, but they will have to endure harsh bone-chilling elements, waves of imperial soldiers, and the terrifying Valkyriaโ€ฆ and unravel a grave truth that will shake them to the core.”

The team has also expressed their desire to bring the franchise back to its roots after years and years of planning:

“The aim of this Valkyria Project is to expand the series on a global scale. We haven’t released a mainline title since Valkyria Chronicles 3 in 2011, so our goal from the beginning was to attract new audiences worldwide. Our overarching vision is to return to the original Valkyria Chronicles’ roots, while building on improvements from the rest of the series. Valkyria Chronicles 4 is the culmination of everything we’ve learned up to this point.

We began setting the groundwork for this project with Valkyria Chronicles Remastered for PS4. Our intent was to let fans experience Valkyria Chronicles‘ origins and core gameplay on a next-gen console before moving forward with a brand-new numbered entry to the main series.”

Hopefully the wait has paid off and we’ll get to see more of our favourite heroes very soon!

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is set to drop in both North America and Europe for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One sometime 2018. For Japan, it will launch for PS4 on March 21st, with the Switch release set for the Summer.
