It’s that time again. May is almost behind us, if you can believe it, and June is just around the corner. That means two things for gamers. It means that E3 is almost upon us, and it also means that a brand new batch of free games are being made available through Xbox Live Games With Gold! Mircrosoft has just revealed our free games for next month, and it’s another big win for Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners.

This month most of the big surprises are on the Xbox 360, with Assassin’s Creed III and Dragon Age: Origins leading the pack. Either one of these games on their own would be enough to sustain you through the entire month, especially Dragon Age, but the two of them together make for a really sweet offering.

Xbox One owners can of course play either of those games through the magic of backward compatibility, so no sweat there. There are also a couple of Xbox One exclusives thrown into the mix, including some DLC for the newly released Phantom Dust. We’re not sure what this DLC will add, since the game is already multiplayer. The base game is also free to play, and we have a hard time believing that anyone was going to cough up $15 for the multiplayer DLC pack in the first place. It’s yours, at any rate.

We’ve got the full list of releases for you right here, so keep scrolling to see them all.

  • Available for the whole month โ€“ย SpeedRunnersย (normally $14.99)
  • Available for the whole month โ€“ย Phantom Dustย Multiplayer DLC Pack (normally $14.99)
  • From June 16 to July 15 โ€“ย Watch Dogsย (normally $29.99)

Your Xbox One games for the month will begin unlocking right away, but the Phantom Dust DLC won’t be available until June 16. It’s hard to say what the real winner this month will be. Watch_Dogs definitely will be the most recognizable for the majority of players, but we don’t know very much about SpeedRunners. This could very well end up being the kind of game that comes out of nowhere and surprise everyone. That’s how things started with Rocket League, you’ll remember. Give this one a shot and let us know what you think.

On to the Xbox 360 games!

  • From June 1 to June 15 โ€“ย Assassin’s Creed IIIย (normally $19.99) (plays on Xbox One)
  • From June 16 to June 30 โ€“ย Dragon Age: Originsย (normally $14.99) (plays on Xbox One)

As noted, the Xbox 360 games are the real winners, here. Assassin’s Creed III is one of the most divisive titles in the series. It features a fan favorite protagonist and a unique setting that you won’t find in any of the other Assassin’s Creed games.

Dragon Age: Origins needs no introduction. This was the first time that BioWare proved that it could captivate the world with a mature story in a fantasy world, and fans couldn’t get enough. It also features a complex battle system that takes some getting used to — there is a bit of micro-management involved at higher levels — but it’ll suck you in once you get the hang of it.
