Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the sequel from Monolithsoft, took up a great deal of focus during today’s Nintendo Direct presentation. In fact, Nintendo actually set aside a whopping eight minutes to showcase some impressive gameplay footage from the game, including a quick look at its battle system and what kind of world you’ll be exploring.
“Take a closer look at Xenoblade Chronicles 2 with Azurda, a Titan!” the company noted in a press release. “Explore Alrest, an endless ocean of clouds, where the last remnants of civilization live on the backs of colossal beasts. You can form powerful bonds with Blades, unique beings granting tremendous power to their users, called Drivers.”
There’s a lot to take in here, but the trailer does a great job explaining what’s in store for players, including special battle tactics that will help you turn the tide on your opponent, as well as other great aspects that should make this the richest Xenoblade Chronicles experience to date.
In addition to the abundant amount of new information revealed with the trailer (which you can see above), we also learned the release date, as the game will be arriving on December 1st. At that time, you can invest in the regular edition of the game, or you can show your true fandom and go after the Special Edition, which was also revealed during the Nintendo Direct.
This edition comes packed with a game and special metal case for it, along with a Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Collected Works art book, packing 220 pages of stunning details from the game, and a special Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Sound Selection CD, featuring a variety of tracks from the sequel.
Nintendo also confirmed that a special Pro Controller with Xenoblade-inspired design will also be released around the same time as the game, and we just got the newest image for that. It looks...fantastic, to say the least. Fans won't want to miss out on this either.
In the meantime, there’s more than enough Xenoblade Chronciles goodness to take in here, before the game comes out for the Nintendo Switch in time for the holidays. Get yours December 1st!
