Doctor Strange is coming home next month, but he’s already become an undeniable focal point for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character, brought to life by Benedict Cumberbatch and director Scott Derrickson and his team, goes straight from his own solo film into a guest appearance of some sort in Thor: Ragnarok this year, then will come together with the rest of the MCU in Avengers: Infinity War.

Derrickson has talked about his excitement for Infinity War before, but in an interview with Comicbook.com, he revealed who he can’t wait to see Doctor Strange interact with in the film, and we’ll get it out of the way: it’s not Iron Man.
“Oh, gosh. When I’ve been asked this in the past, honestly when I think about it I always think about … I’ll just be frank: I always think about Rocket and Doctor Strange encountering each other,” he said with a chuckle. The director wants to see the two characters come together because he thinks they’re the most alike. “They’re both sort of arrogant and verbose, always-in-the-right kind of guys and I think they would drive each other crazy in the best way.”
Indeed, we’ll get the chance to see that in Avengers: Infinity War, which just started principal photography this week. The question is: where and when will we see them together? Production Designer Charles Wood teased that Infinity War and Doctor Strange have something keenly in common in another recent interview here.
“I think rather like Doctor Strange, you’ll find this film, it’s not regurgatative, yeah? What I’m trying to say, is, there are many, many, many new worlds to see in this film,” Wood said. So it sounds like we’ll have plenty of opportunities for a Strange and cosmic connection.

Doctor Strange will appear next in Thor: Ragnarok, and is also due to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, which began principal photography this week. Doctor Strange hits digital HD February 14, and DVD/Blu-ray on February 28.
