Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther will film a portion of the film in South Korea, according to Yonhap News Agency.
“Marvel Studios has decided to film the movie in Atlanta and South Korea, the local branch of The Walt Disney Company Korea said,” the report states.
Joss Whedon’s last Avengers film was partially recorded in Seoul ahead of its 2015 release.
The report states the country’s culture ministry and local government coordinated support for the crew during filming, anticipating that similar help will be required for Black Panther.
Chadwick Boseman stars in the film alongside a litany of superstars including Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Forest Whitaker, and Angela Bassett.
The Age of Ultron scenes filmed in Seoul depict the Avengers attempting to retrieve the Vision’s body from a moving truck after Ultron steals vibranium. Whether this scene will have anything to do with the Black Panther film is unclear at this point.
The report does not state which of the stars will report for filming in Seoul, and with plot details barely beginning to trickle out, all fans can do is speculate.
