Spoilers for The Unworthy Thor #4 follow.
For those who haven’t been following The Unworthy Thor, the miniseries written by Jason Aaron with art by Olivier Coipel, it picks up with Odinson at his lowest point, drifting aimlessly Janes Foster wields Mjolnir as Thor.
Odinson gets some good news when his brother-in-arms, Beta Rey Bill, arrives with news of another Mjolnir, the Mjolnir of the now dead Ultimate Marvel Universe, resting in Old Asgard. However, when Odinson and Beta Rey Bill arrive, they find Old Asgard has vanished. Soon, Thor and Beta Rey Bill themselves are captured by the same Elder of the Universe who took Old Asgard, the Collector.
The Collector is determined to claim the Ultimate Mjolnir for himself. Thor escapes from captivity over and over again but is always stopped and imprisoned again before he can lay hands on the hammer. Always, at least, until now.
Thanon’s minions in the Black Circle, accompanied by a mysterious hooded figure, attacked the Collector’s vessel. In the chaos, Beta Rey Bill helped Odinson reach the Ultimate Mjolnir, where lightning crackled as the Odinson grasped it in his hand. See it for yourself below.
The Unworthy Thor #4 ends with Odinson grasping the Ultimate Mjolnir. It has not yet been revealed whether he can actually lift the hammer. However, the Unseen’s closing statement seems to foreshadow something big to come: “What began with a whisper…now ends with thunder.”

Speaking of, it was a whisper from the Unseen, when he was still old Nick Fury, that made Odinson unworthy. The letter’s page of The Unworthy Thor #4 hints that, after years of being a mystery, the final issue of The Unworthy Thor will, at last, reveal what it was that Nick Fury whispered to Thor.
The Unworthy Thor #4 is on sale now. The Unworthy Thor #5 goes on sale March 22, 2017.
