Fans expected plenty of news from the Legion panel at Comic-Con, but they didn’t expect a Doctor Doom announcement, let alone one actor’s possible involvement in the project.

Hawley’s announcement was surprising in itself, but an actor from his Legion series might be making the jump with him. Dan Stevens, who plays David Haller on the show, is working on the project as well (via Bleeding Cool), but in what role hasn’t been revealed yet.
Hawley and Stevens’ work on Legion has been critically acclaimed, so maybe Stevens is in the running for Doom himself? It’s anyone’s guess at this point, as all that is known is the project is being developed.
At the panel, Hawley had this to say. “I’m developing a film for Fox and I’ll just say two words. Doctor. Doom.” Now, most assume this to be a Doctor Doom solo film, but perhaps this is the rumored Fantastic Four sequel/reboot. Either way, more Doctor Doom is always a good thing, but hopefully, they can finally get the character right. Hawley and Stevens’ work on Legion does inspire some additional confidence though.
You can find the synopsis for Legion below.
Legion is the story of a troubled young man who may be more than human. It introduces the story of David Haller, who since he was a teenager, has struggled with mental illness. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.
Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Rachel Keller (Fargo), Jean Smart (Fargo), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Jeremie Harris (A Walk Among the Tombstones), Amber Midthunder (Hell or High Water), Katie Aselton (The League) and Bill Irwin (Interstellar) star in Legion.
Noah Hawley (Fargo) serves as an Executive Producer along with Lauren Shuler Donner (X-Men: Days of Future Past, Deadpool), Bryan Singer (X-Men: Apocalypse, Superman Returns), Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Martian), Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones), Jim Chory (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s Jessica Jones) and John Cameron (Fargo, The Big Lebowski).
