There currently aren’t any plans for another season of The Defenders in the works, but that does not mean there won’t be any more crossovers between the various Marvel series on Netflix in the future.

While speaking with Collider, The Defenders showrunner Marco Ramirez spoke about the possibility of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Daredevil interacting with each other again.

“Now that they’ve all been cross-pollinated, it might be something that people have to think about,” Ramirez said. “I don’t know. That’s more of a Marvel question. I have nothing to do with any of the other shows. But now that they’ve all met, all bets are off. They know each other, so you have to address that. I think that’s actually, as a storyteller, very exciting.”

It remains to be seen how Netflix and Marvel Television will shepherd this brand moving forward. They remain committed to the original core characters, with filming underway on second seasons of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage as well as more episodes of Daredevil and Iron Fist on the way.

Plus there’s always the possibility of debuting new characters in these series and spinning them off into their own show, just like The Punisher.

Luke Cage has a good reason to be on Jessica Jones and vice versa. And it would be a crime if we didn’t get to see some version of Iron Fist and Luke Cage as the Heroes for Hire. And should any of them get into any trouble with the law (we’re looking at you, Jessica), they already know a lawyer who will work pro bono.

There’s no excuse for them not to work together in the future at this point. Marvel should give the fans what they want.

The Defenders is now streaming on Netflix.

Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal โ€“ to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.
