Marvel Brings On Geneva Robertson-Dworet To Write Captain Marvel Script

Marvel is changing up things on its anticipated Captain Marvel project with a new writer leading the way.

Marvel Studios has hired Geneva Robertson-Dworet to take over scriptwriting duties for the Brie Larson-starring film. Previously, Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman were set to write the project, but LeFauve opted out to co-direct Disney's animated film Gigantic (via Deadline). No word yet on why Perlman decided to also leave the project.

Robertson-Dworet doesn't have a huge list of previous credits, but is attached to a number of high-profile projects like Tomb Raider, Gotham City Sirens, and Sherlock Holmes 3, along with Dungeons and Dragons and ROM. Of all of those though, this is her biggest project, and expect for her name to show up more often in the years to come if this goes well.

Captain Marvel is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who directed Half Nelson and Mississippi Grind.

As for star Larson, she recently revealed the response to her casting, and why it's important for her to get this right.

"The response was really positive, and that felt really cool. I mean, making movies is hard, and making films of that size is even harder. It requires so much physically, and it's a lot longer shoot, and there's also the pressure because this is a character that is incredibly inspiring to people and means a lot," Larson continued. "So you just want to get it right. I feel really excited about how everything is shaping up."

Captain Marvel currently enjoys a 3.68 out of 5 on ComicBook.com's anticipation rankings.

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8, 2019.
