Guardians Of The Galaxy 2: Mantis And Baby Groot Concept Art

Andy Park, who is currently a Visual Development Supervisor at Marvel Studios and has worked on character designs and key-frame art for every single film in the MCU since Captain America: The First Avenger, has shared more of his brilliant Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 concept art.

The artwork features another early, unused design for Mantis (slideshow below), putting more emphasis on her bug-like appearance, and key-frame art of Baby Groot, Yondu, and Rocket onboard -- and about to make their explosive escape from -- the Ravagers ship, The Ecclector.

The key-frame art, which you view directly below, follows the hilarious escape scene. In that, after the mutinous Ravagers deemed pint-sized humanoid plant is too cute to kill, dressed him up in a mini-Ravagers costume, tormented him, and went to sleep, Baby Groot visits Yondu and Rocket -- who were thrown into a cell together. In order to free them, Baby Groot has to sneak around the ship where the crew is sleeping and locate Yondu's "prototype fin." However, Baby Groot doesn't quite know what he is looking for, so he comes back with anything but the fin -- such as underwear, a severed toe, a mechanical eye, and even a desk. Eventually, he finds and retrieves the fin. Once Yondu puts it on, he and Rocket are able to escape and get some good ol' fashion revenge.

Set to the backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape #2,' Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
