In last week’s episode, Simmons explained the Framework to Grant Ward and Jeffrey Mace (a.k.a The Patriot), and neither of them wanted to believe her. Mace was especially concerned because it would mean the SHIELD resistance that’s he been in charge of is meaningless. And in death, he was able to prove to Simmons, though I’m not sure she realizes it yet, that life inside of the Framework isn’t meaningless.

Witnessing Mace’s final act of bravery, after Hydra’s airstrike destroyed the quarantine building, triggers the hero inside of May to come out. We then see her back at the Triskelion cell where Daisy has been tortured and confined. She exposes Daisy to a Terrigen crystal, unlocking her Inhuman powers. Quake returns!

Now that Daisy has her super-powers again, her and May will surely escape and go on the run. In the clip above, Ward tells Coulson that he’s going to search for his girlfriend and wants the teacher’s help, though he has no leads on her whereabouts. Coulson advises him to wait, concerned people may get hurt in the process, but Ward strongly disagrees.
