Agents Of SHIELD Season 4 VFX Breakdown Featuring Ghost Rider

A new Agents of SHIELD visual effects breakdown video has been released by Emmy-nominated visual effects studio CoSA VFX.

While there are shots from throughout the entire fourth season, it mostly features the amazing digital effects that went into the jaw-dropping season finale. And it begins by showing us how the unexpected visual reference to Marvel’s Doctor Strange was put together.

In the Season 4 finale, after AIDA is defeated and the Spirit of Vengeance returns to its rightful host, Robbie Reyes reveals that he is returning to the Hell dimension to further participate in the war waging throughout all reality. The SHIELD team expects him to leave via the portal he came in from, but Ghost Rider tells them he’s learned some new tricks since he’s been away.

Ghost Rider swings his Hellfire chain in a circular motion in front of him. The flames form a circle and soon another place can be seen in the space within. The flame narrow and eventually become sparks, forming a portal just like the portals created by the sling rings in Doctor Strange.

The regular cast features Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie, and John Hannah as Holden Radcliffe.

The the fifth season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD will debut next fall, consist of 22 episodes, and is shifting from Tuesday to Friday nights and airing at 9 p.m — taking over The Inhumans timeslot.
