Ant-Man Director Mocks Male Outrage Over Wonder Woman Women-Only Screenings

The director of Ant-Man and its upcoming sequel, Ant-Man and The Wasp, makes fun of the uproar over all-female screenings of Wonder Woman.

To celebrate the female-led superhero movie, and only the second superhero film to be directed by a woman, Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas announced that it will hosting women-only screenings of Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman. Of course, that didn't sit well with some men, who complained that the theater chain was being sexist as it has never hosted an all-male screening of any film.

Responding to the criticism with humor and wit, Alamo Drafthouse wrote, "We've never done showings where you had to be a man to get in, but we *did* show the Entourage movie a few years ago" and "thanks for the money!" VICTORY!

And now, Marvel director Peyton Reed has chimed in with his own humorous response: "Just wait until I announce the insect-only screenings of ANT-MAN AND THE WASP."

UPDATE! To clear up any confustion, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has issued a statement: "Obviously, Alamo Drafthouse recognizes Wonder Woman is a film for all audiences, but our special women-only screenings may have created confusion - we want everybody to see this film."

Patty Jenkins directs the film from a screenplay by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, story by Zack Snyder and Allan Heinberg, based on characters from DC Entertainment. Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston.

The film is produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Richard Suckle, with Rebecca Roven, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers. Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with RatPac-Dune Entertainment, an Atlas Entertainment/Cruel and Unusual production, Wonder Woman.

The film will be released on June 2, 2017.
