Avengers: Infinity War doesn’t really need any additional hype. With a 4.35 ComicBook User Anticipation Rating, the third Avengers movie is already the most-anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers.

Whether it needed the additional excitement or not, fans just received one more reason to look forward to Avengers: Infinity War. Motion capture actor Terry Notary has hinted that he is going to be performing in Avengers: Infinity War and that he’ll be playing Thanos’s chief henchman.

Based on what little Notary would say about his character, it sounds an awful lot like he’ll be playing Corvus Glaive, one of Thanos’s Cull Obsidian, also known as the Black Order.

Introduced during the Infinity event, the Black Order consists of five generals Thanos gathered from across the universe to lead his army. After razing many planets, Thanos’s attention again turned towards Earth, where upon arriving he sent one general each to a place of power on the planet in search of the Infinity Gems, the Marvel Comics equivalent of the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s Infinity Stones.

What followed was a full-scale war against the planet Earth that took the combined might of practically every Avenger on the planet, the Inhumans, and other to stave off, and even then the Earth did not escape unscathed.

Supergiant

Supergiant is a omnipath, meaning that she can read and control the minds of others no matter their species and can do so in great numbers.

She’s also a telepathic parasite, meaning she subsists by feeding on the raw intellect of those around her.

When Thanos and the Black Order arrived on Earth, Supergiant was sent to the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning to search for Thanos’s son. By herself, Supergiant was able to easily defeat the entirety of the X-Men and discover that the child, Thane, was not there.

Following that feat, Supergiant managed to defeat the Illuminati by mind-controlling Black Bolt and using his power against them.

 

Black Dwarf

Black Dwarf is the physical powerhouse of Thanos’s Black Order. Black Dwarf possesses superhuman strength, superhuman density, and superhuman durability, including unbreakable skin. His favored weapon is an ax.

He was also the least effective of the Black Order. When Thanos and the Black Order arrived on Earth during Infinity, Black Dwarf was sent to Wakanda to deal with Black Panther’s nation.

What Thanos and Black Dwarf did not know is that Wakanda had been made aware of the coming invasion. Wakandan technology and resourcefulness gave them the edge and they were able to repel Black Dwarf’s advances.

Thanos expelled Black Dwarf from the Black Order for his failure but then gave Black Dwarf a last chance to prove himself by defending the orbital space station known as The Peak from being recaptured by the Avengers.

 

Corvus Glaive

Not only was Corvus Glaive a member of the Black Order, but he was also the Right-Hand of Thanos, the Mad Titan.

As his name may suggest, Corvus Glaive’s power rests in his weapon, a glaive capable of splitting atoms. As long as the glaive remains intact Glaive is functionally immortal and able to resurrect himself from any death.

In addition to possessing superhuman strength, speed, durability, and endurace, Corvus Glave is a master strategist and tacticition. As Thanos’s chief lieutenant, it was Corvus Glaive who most frequently led Thanos’s armies into battle.

Corvus Glaive was seemingly killed during the Infinity conflict but was restored by his still functioning glaive.

 

Proxima Midnight

Proxima Midnight, who is married to Corvus Glaive, is the most fierce and most skilled fighter in Thanos’s Black Order. She is nearly invulnerable and possesses superhuman strength, endurance, speed, and a spear forged by Thanos himself.

The spear was created from a sun trapped within spacetime, existing as both a supernova and a black hole simultaneously. When thrown, the spear becomes energy and Proxima midnight can control its density. The spear is also poisonous and can immobilize an enemy, and has proven powerful enough to bring the Hulk to a standstill and even force him to revert to his human form.

 

Ebony Maw

Where most of the Black Order are powerful fighters, Ebony Maw is the member that most relies on his intellect.

Ebony Maw possesses a super-genius class intellect which he uses to skillfully persuade others to do as he wishes without ever facing the need for physical conflict.

When Thanos and the Black Order arrived on Earth in Infinity, Thanos sent Ebony Maw to deal with Doctor Strange. Ebony Maw was able to talk Doctor Strange into summoning Shuma-Gorath, the Many-Angled One, into the mortal universe.

Ebony Maw then used Doctor Strange as a double agent among the Illuminati, gaining information to serve his master’s purposes.
