The daughter of Thanos has made no secret of the hate she holds for her father, something anyone (including Gamora) can understand. It’s been a weird journey to get here, but Nebula Actress Karen Gillan knows that epic confrontation is just around the corner.
“I’ve been sworn to secrecy,” Gillan told Den of Geek. “But I definitely think that all of what we’ve been building towards, with all the backstories between Nebula and Thanos, is definitely going to come to a head in the Avengers film, and she’s definitely going to confront all of those traumatic memories. I definitely think she is going to have her moment.”
Will that result in finally killing the mad titan? If so she’ll have to get in line, as her teammate (of sorts) Drax is also fully aboard the die a thousand deaths Thanos revenge train, and he isn’t about to share the glory.
Nebula and Drax, alongs with the rest of the Guardians, are an important part of Infinity War. Most of the galaxy has never met them, including the Avengers, and to say their styles are different is a drastic understatement.
Fans have a lot of crazy situations to look forward to, as Gillan is also shooting Avengers 4 back to back with Infinity War, a process that is quite ambitious.
“So this is the longest shoot in the world,” Gillan said. “It’s been going since January, and it goes right up until December. And then it goes into reshootsโlike immediate, more additional photographyโnext year. So it’s like an ongoing thing, which is really cool, because it feels like a whole family now.” Gillan even compares it to her time on television’s own beloved sci-fi epic, Doctor Who. “There were a lot of crew members who were on Jumanji who’ve gone onto [Avengers]. So I’m just like, ‘Okay, this really is my next family.’”
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018.
