These days, movies are amiss if they leave out an easter egg if one could have been tucked into its reel. Franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe have thrived off the little nods, and fans have basically become amateur sleuths in their search for easter egg gold. For Disney fans, plenty of the studio’s films with Pixar have been loaded with tiny references and nods – but it looks like Big Hero 6 managed to get away with one super tricky easter egg.

That is, until now.
Thanks to the folks at Oh My Disney, one insanely subtle easter egg was just spotted in Big Hero 6. If you look at the image below, you probably won’t notice anything out of place, so you will want to take a closer look at Honey Lemon’s phone case. The heroine may be taking a photo, but it is the device’s covering that ties back into Disney’s extensive canon.
Yeah, there it is. Honey Lemon’s cute phone case is actually based off a very early design of Nick Wilde, the crafty fox from Zootopia. If you are feeling skeptical about the reference, then you don’t need to question it too hard. The fact has already been confirmed by the art director of Big Hero 6.
Scott Watanabe said, “Early on, Honey Lemon’s phone case was designed to look like a bear, to conjure up a ‘honey’ connection, but we came across a few similar designs in our research.”
“I began to think of other animals and Nick Wilde, the fox from Zootopia (which was in production at the time), came to mind. Thought it might be a fun Easter egg for fans to look out for in the film.”
This isn’t the first easter egg Disney has stuffed into its traditional animated tales. When Frozen debuted, the film nodded to Tangled and Moana recently had a throwback to The Little Mermaid thanks to Flounder.
In Big Hero 6, robotics prodigy Hiro (Ryan Potter) lives in the city of San Fransokyo. Next to his older brother, Tadashi, Hiro’s closest companion is Baymax (Scott Adsit), a robot whose sole purpose is to take care of people. When a devastating turn of events throws Hiro into the middle of a dangerous plot, he transforms Baymax and his other friends, Go Go Tamago (Jamie Chung), Wasabi (Damon Wayans Jr.), Honey Lemon (Genesis Rodriguez) and Fred (T.J. Miller) into a band of high-tech heroes.
