Lupita Nyong’o is one of Hollywood’s most promising stars, but it looks like one magazine got their coverage of the stars crossed recently. If you happen to fly British Airways, don’t take its in-flight magazine for face value when it says the star hails from Wakanda.

Over on Twitter, a post by user Denizcan Targaryen is making rounds with Marvel fans. The netizen shared a picture he took from High Life, the in-flight magazine printed by British Airways. Its latest issue did a piece about Hollywood’s best-dressed celebrities. The magazine nodded to the hometowns of each star, but they happened to get Nyong’o’s wrong.
As you can see in the tweet below, the publication says Nyong’o hails from the oh-so fictional country of Wakanda.

If you are not familiar with Wakanda, then you need to brush up on your Black Panther history. The series is set in the African country of Wakanda, a secretive land which evaded any colonialization attempts. The high-tech country is run by a monarchy, and T’Challa is its most famous rule. The hero’s bloodline gave him the opportunity to become the Black Panther, and T’Challa is tasked with protecting Wakanda from anything it deems a threat.
High Life‘s confusion with Nyongo’o is embarrassing, but there is reason for the slip up. After all, the star is part of Black Panther‘s cast. Marvel Studios will release a solo film about the Wakandan hero next spring, and Nyong’o plays one of T’Challa’s Dora Milaje guards.
For anyone wanting to know where Nyong’o is from, the actress was born in Mexico City. However, the actress considers herself to be Kenyan-Mexican as her family moved back to their native Kenyan when she was under a year old. Nyong’o grew up primarily in Kenyan but studied in Mexico before she attended college in the United States.
