Cable is putting together a new team of mutants to kick off the Marvel Legacy era, but the covers will get a helping hand from Cable‘s creator.

Artist Rob Liefeld will be penciling several covers for Cable #150, which depicts the time-traveling mutant forming a new team made up of fan favorites. Liefeld also drew a cover homaging one of his earlier works, which shows a classic version of X-Force that includes characters like Warlock, Cannonball, Boom Boom, and Sunspot.
“Drawing Cable with a new group of young Mutants was an instant rush of excitement tinged with a nice dose of nostalgia,” Liefeld told ComicBook.com. “Cable’s inclusion into The New Mutants in issue #87 was really the moment everything started taking off for me and my career. It’s an honor to commemorate his creation and introduction into the X-Pantheon that with covers on this new series!”
Cable will be working with characters from all throughout time, with a team that consists of Shatterstar, Longshot, Blink, X-23, and Doop, all of which can be found in the new variants. You can view each of these in the gallery.

As for the story at hand, Cable will need all the help he can get in stopping a time-traveling assassin, and writer Ed Brisson has certainly given him an entertaining squad to get the job done.
“In this arc, Cable only knows that someone has leapt to the past and killed a mutant in New Orleans,” Brisson tells PreviewsWorld. “As he peels back the layers of the case, he starts to understand the larger picture of what he’s against and begins to recruit members based on what he needs to accomplish. The team, consisting of Longshot, Shatterstar, Doop, X-23, Blink and Armor each provide a very important skillset needed to find this killer and stop him or her. You take one of them out of the equation and the mission is doomed.”
Cable #150 is available in comic shops October 18.
