Sadly, Deadpool lost the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Musical Or Comedy to La La Land.
The R-rated superhero movie won big in the box office last year, and it set a record as the highest-earning film with an R rating in Global box office history. It was a hilarious ride, but not enough to ultimately win the award.

Although La La Land ended up taking home the gold, it was an enormous feat for Deadpool to even be nominated here. Superhero movies don’t often get award recognition, to it was awesome to see one done so well that the committees couldn’t help but recognize it.
While Deadpool may not have taken home the statue, it did easily get the green light for an eventual sequel. Deadpool 2 will see Reynolds return as the title character, with John Wick director David Leitch at the helm. The sequel is said to include classic Deadpool characters Cable and Domino to the big screen.
Big congrats to La La Land for winning Best Motion Picture – the movie definitely deserved it. And still, a huge congrats to Ryan Reynolds, Tim Miller, and the entire team for their work on Deadpool. You’ve taken the superhero movie to unkown heights, and we all thank you for that!
