Marvel fans are eager to see all of the Netflix heroes come together to take on the Hand in The Defenders, but they may need to temper expectations if they’re expecting to see them team up right away.

Showrunner Marco Ramirez recently spoke with Playboy ahead of the series debut later this week, during which he said the challenge was to build the characters’ meeting organically off of the events in their own series.
“I don’t necessarily think that three minutes in, they’re all going to be in a room together and there’s going to be a mission statement on the wall. It needs to be organic,” Ramirez said. “It just really felt like in order to honor the individual character arcs of each of the shows, we needed them to realize this was the next big chapter of their lives, individually.”
We’ve already heard the events of the series will change the characters in their own series moving forward, but what could possibly affect them after everything they’ve been through? Ramirez was coy but offered a hint.
“Each of these shows has hinted that something bigger is coming,” Ramirez said. “The answer is, something wicked this way comes, and it’s Sigourney Weaver.”
Weaver will be playing Alexandra, a character with ties to The Hand. Though we’re not sure what exactly those ties are at this point, it’s a safe bet that she’s pretty high up in the organization.
The wait is almost over, and we are excited to see what trouble the Defenders get into when the eight-episode series premieres on Netflix this Friday.
Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones). A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal โ to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.
