Don Cheadle Teases Lots of Deaths In Captain America: Civil War

Don Cheadle is out promoting his new Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead, but he can’t escape questions about his role as War Machine in Captain America: Civil War.

Loaded asked the actor about the upcoming superhero slugfest, so Cheadle decided to give the outlet a “huge scoop.”

“I’ve only told one other person, so you’re getting a big scoop,” Cheadle teased. “Most everyone in the movie dies! Captain America, War Machine, Iron Man, Hawk…who else? The Vision, yeah, almost everybody…Black Widow, Spider-Man, it’s a wipeout.”

Cheadle is obviously joking here, but it could be a kind of gallows humor. Rhodey certainly seems to be on death’s door in the “>Captain America: Civil War“> trailer, and comic book fans know how Civil War turned out for Steve Rogers in the original story.

Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
