James Gunn has become the king of hiding Easter Eggs and cameos in his films. In addition to the loads that fans have discovered over the past couple of years, there are still some that have yet to be found.

However, not every single one of his Easter Eggs is a Marvel Mega-secret. Such is the case with a nice family nod the director included in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. If you paid close attention, you got a great look at James Gunn’s parents.
During a scene on Earth, a blue mass is sweeping over a small town in Missouri. That’s all we’ll say about the scene, as to not spoil the events of the film. However, there was an older couple seen standing just in front of the mass after it stopped moving. They’re in the process of taking pictures with their cell phones when the mass begins to move once again. It quickly engulfs everyone around it.
That couple, as seen below, are the parents of James Gunn.
It’s clear the director likes to keep his family involved in his work. Sean Gunn, his brother, plays Kragglin in both Guardians films. He also provides the motion capture work for Rocket Raccoon. It’s also worth noting that Gunn grew up in Missouri, and he included his home state as Star-Lord’s new home.
