Man Sues Woman Over Hellish Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Date Night

If you’ve got any plans to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 with a date, then be sure you don’t text during the film. For one Texas couple, a date night at the theaters as turned into a full-on lawsuit. Thanks to the Austin American-Statesman, fans have learned Guardians of the Galaxy is at the center of one of Texas’ most bizarre court proceedings as of late.

According to the paper, Brandon Vezmar is now suing an unnamed woman after the pair went on a date to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The 37-year-old plantiff is seeking $17.31 in damages as that total was the cost of the 3D movie ticket he purchased for his date.

In the lawsuit, Vezmar describes the night out as “a first date from hell.” Speaking with the local newspaper, the plantiff said his date began texting during the movie about 15 minutes into the feature. The suit claims the woman “activated her phone at least 10-20 times” before Vezmar asked her to stop. When he then suggested she text outside the theaters, the woman left the cinema in her own car, leaving Vezmar without a ride home.

When Vezmar asked her to reimburse him the price of the movie ticket, the woman refused. In the lawsuit, the plantiff says his date’s behavior is a “threat to civilized society.”

As for the woman, the unidentified defendant asked to remain anonymous when interview by the newspaper. She said she was not yet informed of the lawsuit. “Oh my God,” she remarked after being told. “This is crazy.”

Currently, many franchise theater chains do not have explicit bans about texting whilst a film is screening. Recording any footage is illegal, but texting has become more of a common courtesy aversion. Plenty of adverts play ahead of a film asking audiences to silence their phones and keep their phones off to prevent any distractions.

Now, it looks like one couple is going to court over the manner. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has been a longtime coming, and for Vezmar, the man won’t let go of the hellish date which plagued his screening.

New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).
