Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Deleted Scene Revisits Xandar

There’s more than one way to look at the War on Xander, as we see in #GuardiansoftheGalaxy2 […]

Ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2s release on digital HD, Blu-ray, and DVD, Marvel Studios is providing a look at some of the special features packaged with the movie.

We already got a look at the David Hasselhoff music video, but now we get to watch one of the few deleted scenes courtesy of Yahoo! This particular clip shows an interesting take on the War on Xandar courtesy of Ego the Living Planet, during which Star-Lord “single handedly” saved the universe. Watch the clip above!

As Ego and Mantis give the Guardians a tour of his planet/body, they come across a sculpture depicting Peter Quill felling Ronan the Accuser with the aid of Groot as a blob thing, a miniature Drax mounted on his shoulder, while Gamora clutches his leg like a sci-fi bombshell.

Gamora immediately takes umbrage with the portrayal and Drax, ever so literal, wonders when he was that small. Of course, Peter loves it.

It’s a humorous clip but was probably cut to benefit the movie โ€” Ego doesn’t let on his true intentions until later in the film and this would have been an early indicator that
‘all is not well.’

Also, Peter comes off as even more unlikable than usual. We all know that he has a fragile โ€” for lack of a better word โ€” ego, that he’s very susceptible to other’s opinions about him, and that he’s desperately seeking validation from his father, but this isn’t as nuanced or believable as the other moments included in the film’s runtime.

All in all, while the scene is funny and definitely deserves a watch, it’s much better suited as a deleted scene and probably would have made the overall film suffer were it actually included.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits Digital HD August 8 and will be released on Blu-ray and DVD August 22.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos.
