Entertainment Weekly is reporting that J.R. Ramirez will be joining Jessica Jones‘ second season as a series regular. Ramirez is set to appear as Oscar, and the official description for his character can be found below.
“A devoted single father who moves into Jessica’s (Krysten Ritter) building as the new superintendent. While his young son becomes enamored with Jessica and her powers, Oscar keeps his distance, worrying about the trouble that follows people like her.”
Ramirez portrayed DC Comics mainstay Ted Grant/Wildcat on the third season of Arrow, and has also appeared on Power, Emily Owens M.D., and House of Payne. But judging by the comments made by Jessica Jones showrunner Melissa Rosenberg, he’s a welcome addition to the Netflix series.
“J.R. is an incredible addition to our cast,” Rosenberg explained, “bringing complex and subtle emotion and humor. He exudes warmth, edge and intelligence, and blends perfectly with our tone.”
Also joining the new season of Jessica Jones are Leah Gibson (Twilight) and Janet McTeer (Damages).
While fans eagerly anticipate Jessica Jones season two, they can look forward to a much sooner appearance of several of the show’s characters in next month’s The Defenders.
Marvel’s Defenders premieres August 18.
