In the world of successful super hero films, sequels are inevitable. For Spider-Man: Homecoming, the wallcrawler will be returning for a pair of sequels in addition to Avengers films.

It appears director Jon Watts will also be returning to direct the films. ComicBook.com asked the director whether or not he’ll be returning, to which he responded “I think so.”

“Ask Amy [Pascal] and Kevin [Feige],” Watts said.

What do executive producers Feige and Pascal have to say about it?

“We hope so,” Feige said.

“We hope so. He’s great,” Pascal added. “He’s great, and he brought everything to the movie. He worked really hard to get this job. Oh my god, for months.”

According to Pascal, that work which Watts relentlessly poured into landing the director job on Homecoming included “sending us storyboards, outlines, meetings. You know the Marvel guys have a very rigorous hiring process.”

When it comes to planning for the sequel, “We’re going to start next month,” Feige says for the film which is first in line following the fourth Avengers film.

“July 2019,” he points out. “All you really need to know is, it’s pretty cool because a lot of stuff happens in the next two Avengers movies. A lot of universe shaking events occur. What better way to kick off the next step? Who to guide us through what has happened there and bring us back to ground level, than Peter Parker? Which is what much of the next Spider Man film will be about.”

Parker won’t be alone in carrying the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s torch following the third and fourth Avengers film. “I think Doctor Strange and Captain Marvel and Black Panther might want to say that they’re part of that, as well,” Feige points out.
