Since its debut this past weekend, Logan has gained a profound amount of positive critical and fan reception, in addition to over $100 million at the box office. With the movie being such a hit, a certain A-List star – and upcoming comic book movie actor himself – offered his praise as well.

On Friday, Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a. The Rock, congratulated one of Logan‘s stars, Stephen Merchant, on Twitter. Merchant, who plays the albino mutant Caliban in the film, initially tweeted thanking fans for complimenting his portrayal. Just a few hours later, Johnson – whose recent credits include the Disney hit Moana, The Fate of the Furious, and the upcoming Baywatch reboot – gave a similar praise.

The combination of Merchant – who is best known for co-writing the British version of The Office – and Johnson seems like an unlikely pairing, the two are actually set to work together in the very near future. Merchant is reportedly writing and directing the wrestling film Fighting With My Family, which Johnson will star in as well as executive produce. So given their connection behind the scenes, Johnson’s endorsement of Merchant’s performance becomes all the more genuine.

Johnson himself will be stepping into a superhero-related role in the near future as well. The wrestler-turned-actor was one of the first actors to be cast in the DC Cinematic Universe as Shazam‘s nemesis Black Adam. While production details have remained slim in the years since, a recent report revealed that Black Adam will most likely be getting his own solo movie. With this in mind, it’s certainly nice to see Johnson invested in the successes of the superhero movie genre.

Logan currently has an 88.46 ComicBook Composite score, the second-highest ComicBook Composite score of any comic book movie, and a 4.71 out of 5 user rating, making it the top rated of all comic book movies among ComicBook.com readers. Let us know what you thought of Logan by rating it below.
