The Defenders: Charlie Cox Reveals Favorite Daredevil and Luke Cage Image

Marvel’s The Defenders miniseries event on Netflix is gaining buzz as production evolves into promotion. A recent magazine spread revealed the first images of Marvel’s Defenders team (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist) together, as well as supporting characters on the show (Misty Knight, Claire Temple, Colleen Wing) and the villain, “Alexandra,” played by Sigourney Weaver.

Now that the actors who play the principal four Defenders have met up and worked together, we’ve been hearing about what they would like to see in their Marvel movie future, both individually and as a group. Today we have a quote from actor Charlie Cox, who play Matt Murdock / Daredevil, about one piece of Marvel Comics imagery that he’d like to see Daredevil and Luke Cage recreate onscreen.

Talking to EW, Cox described the research he’s already put into Marvel team-up moments: “There are some fantastic moments in the Daredevil series with Jessica Jones, with Luke Cage, with Iron Fist. I’ve taken note of the moments in the Daredevil comics where new characters are coming in and sharing panels with Daredevil, and in terms of how Matt might operate in a team-up scenario… I’m just looking for little nuggets, for stuff I can use and any clues into how I can play him.”

He then described a team-up moment between Daredevil and Luke Cage depicted in Marvel Comics, which has stuck with him for a long time: “One of my favorite images is from a Daredevil issue with Luke Cage and Daredevil on a rooftop eating cheeseburgers. I love that.”

If you read any superhero movie sites (like Comicbook.com, Comicook.com, or Comicbook.com…) then you probably recognize the image Cox is referring to. It’s an image that has been used and circulated, so clearly it has impact with fans. Would be a great Easter egg to adapt into the Marvel Cinematic (Neftlix) Universe.

Finn Jones will debut as Danny Rand in Marvel’s Iron First, coming to Netflix in March 2017. Marvel’s The Defenders will debut on Netflix later in 2017.
