Simone Missick, who plays Misty Knight in Luke Cage, confirmed to The Wrap’s Stuart Brazell that she will also be making a return in the anticipated Defender series during an appearance on “Drinking With The Stars“.
“I believe I’m safe to say that I will be on ‘The Defenders. Spoiler alert! If I lose my job because of this interview, sorry! I was supposed to be on ‘The Defenders,’ until I got fired,” she continued, jokingly.
Her job security notwithstanding, Knight’s inclusion should help to ground a show that will be significantly more superpowered and epic in scope than previous offerings. It also means that fans might at some point see Knight finally get that robotic arm of hers, if that doesn’t happen at some point during Luke Cage that is.
After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.
Luke Cage debuts on Netflix September 30th. As for The Defenders, it is slated for release sometime in 2017, but will start shooting later this year.
