After launching the Bullseye comic with Guillermo Sanna, Miroslav Mrva, and Clayton Cowles, he was announced as writer of the new Iron Fist book with Mike Perkins just as the character gets his own TV series.

And now Brisson is going to be teaming with superstar Mike Deodato as they take over the reins of Old Man Logan from Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino.

And the character comes full circle in a clever way as the former Wolverine squares off against the former Hulkโ€”the character’s future-supervillain counterpart known as the Maestro.

Speaking with GameSpot, Brisson teased his and Deodato’s direction for the series and gave a bit of reasoning why Logan will be going up against the Maestro.

“From Logan’s perspective, there’s now a threat of Hulks from the future who’re here, who shouldn’t be here, which sets his own anxieties and fears off,” Brisson said. “He’s only recently begun to accept that his future isn’t this world’s future. And now that future has landed right on his doorstep. How does he cope? For Logan, it’s as though he’s got to relive the same nightmare over and over.”

It seems Logan can’t escape aspects of his past, which was a major theme of the original series by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven.

But the Maestro is far different from the Wasteland’s version of the character, Brisson elaborated.

“We’ll see how he got to be in the Prime Universe and why he’s rolling with the Hulk Gang,” Brisson said. “Maestro is NOT a fan of Wasteland Banner. To him, that Banner is the worst possible outcome for Bruce Banner. And that wasted potential fuels his anger. Even though the Hulk Gang are not the Maestro’s children, he’s taken them on as though they were.”

So it’s Logan Vs. The Hulk Gang 2.0 in the present day Marvel Universe, and it all starts when Brisson and Deodato take over in Old Man Logan #25.
