Micro has always been a staple character of The Punisher‘s story throughout Marvel Comics, so it’s only fitting that the character would appear in the upcoming Netflix series.

While no one really knows exactly when The Punisher will premiere it’s first season this fall, we do know that Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Girls) will be taking on the role of Micro, opposite Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle. The character debuted in a recent batch of photos, but Bernthal has now offered a little more detail about Frank’s eventual nemesis.
While speaking with EW, Bernthal revealed that Frank and Micro aren’t as different as many fans would think. In fact, they’ll actually do some work together.
“Good drama is when you take these hard life characters and force them to interact, and that’s precisely what [Steve] did with Micro and Frank,” Bernthal explained. “He forces these guys who are so unbelievably different, who operate on such different planes, and have such opposite skill sets [together]. Interestingly, they have very similar paths as far as their families, and as far as the predicament they’re in, and they’re sort of forced to work together.”
It may sound like the characters will get along for a bit, but that probably won’t be the case for the entire series. Not only do Frank and Micro become enemies in the source material, but Bernthal teased a solid amount of darkness as the show goes on.
“This season is much darker as it goes, it gets darker and darker and more visceral.”
Season 1 of The Punisher will be released on Netflix sometime this fall.
