Although the film was defintitely focused on the story of Stephen Strange, other elements of the Marvel Cinematic Universe were effortlessly weaved into the plot, connecting the new MCU character with the overarching storyline leading up to Avengers: Infinity War.

The most obvious connections were presented in the mid-credits and post-credits scene, however there were more ambiguous Easter Eggs scattered throughout Doctor Strange. Whether it was an artifact that paid homage to the original comics or a tease for an upcoming Marvel movie, it still gave audiences that fuzzy feeling inside.

We recently questioned the presence of an Easter Egg for Brie Larson’s upcoming Captain Marvel solo flick:

“According to EW, the Easter egg in question is in the opening part of the film when Strange is looking for new and unusual patients. After rejecting a marine colonel hurt in an accident involving experimental armor (which many assumed was a reference to War Machine’s injury in Captain America: Civil War), Strange reviews the case file for a woman struck by lightning.

The unusual part of the case wasn’t the lightning strike itself, it was that the woman had an implant in her brain meant to help control her schizophrenia.”

In an interview with Empire, Derrickson cleared things up for us when he was asked about the Captain Marvel Easter egg by saying, “”All I can is…maybe. That one, you’re going to have to wait and see…”

But, he didn’t deny it either!

We’re going to safely assume that his “maybe” means yes, it would only make sense looking down the road to the upcoming phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
