Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s cast of characters has been praised by many, including the reinvention of Flash Thompson (Tony Revolori). While the decades-old rivalry between Flash and Peter Parker (Tom Holland) was updated for a new generation, the film nearly included a humorous bit where Peter gets a bit of old-school revenge.

While speaking with Yahoo Movies, Homecoming co-writer Jonathan Goldstein revealed that an extra bit was initially added to the scene where Peter takes Flash’s car during the titular Homecoming dance.

“Spider-Man says to [Flash], ‘I need your car.’” Goldstein explained. “We then had him say, ‘And your pants.’ [Flash is] like, ‘Why?’ And [Peter says], ‘Give me your pants!’ So he takes off his pants and gives them to him, and Spider-Man just throws them like a mile away, takes the car and drives off. Just to get some revenge.”

Although this extra line of Flash’s comeuppance was ultimately cut, co-writer John Francis Daley hinted that Peter will still maintain a distinct attitude towards his foe.

“He’s still kind of a petty kid.”
