Over the course of 15 years, three actors have been given the opportunity to play the iconic Marvel Comics hero of Spider-Man.
Tobey Maguire lead the charge in 2002 for a trilogy of films under the direction of Sam Raimi. Then, Andrew Garfield took over for The Amazing Spider-Man pair of films with Marc Webb at the helm. Then came Captain America: Civil War in 2016 which introduced Tom Holland as the world’s new Spider-Man ahead of his standalone film Spider-Man: Homecoming which hits theaters this weekend.

As it turns out, all of the Spider-Man actors have met by now and it doesn’t appear any of them are holding grudges regarding a newcomer stepping into the role. Holland recently opened up abut meeting the other Spider-Man while promoting his upcoming film.
“Andrew [Garfield] was so lovely,” Holland told ET. “We had a really good chat together. I met Tobey [Maguire] very briefly. They’re both very nice guys.”
It seems as though many of the former Spider-Man movie casts and crews are in touch with one another. “[Marc Webb] emailed me,” Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts tells Den of Geek, “and he said ‘I’m not gonna tell you anything, I’m just gonna say: make sure you get to hang out with Stan Lee.’”
“I did,” Watts added. “I did, and it was great. It was great advice.”
When Comicbook.com sat down with Holland for an exclusive interview, the actor revealed which Spider-Man would win in a triple threat match between the three cinematic versions of the character. “Tom Holland is definitely gonna win that fight,” the actor claimed. “He’s technically advanced. He’s got it.”
To Holland’s argument, his portrayal of Spider-Man is the first to receive a suit from the like of tech genius Tony Stark.
