Over the past few weeks, ever since Hugh Jackman first revealed that his final Wolverine movie will be titled Logan, a steady trickle of daily teaser images has appeared on the Logan Instagram account.
Checking the account daily, we became aware of a certain pattern. The images always post at the same time each day. Specifically, they post at 10:23 a.m. ET. It isn’t unusual for this kind of corporate marketing plan to employ this kind of timed precision, but 10:23 seems like too oddly specific a time to be simply randomly chosen.

It turns out it may not be random at all. Consider that the Roman number for 10 is X. Now replace that in the time designation and you’re left with X:23. Or, X-23, Wolverine’s teenage, female clone who is rumored to make her cinematic debut in Logan.
This may be more than just a sneaky Easter egg. The 10:23 pattern applies to the time these images will be released, but this coming Sunday is also Oct. 23, or 10/23 numerically. That means the date would also be X-23, and that seems like too good of an opportunity for 20th Century Fox to pass up.
Fans are likely hoping that the date marks when Fox will release the first trailer for Logan, but we’re guessing that the X-23 time converging with the X-23 date will reveal something a little more focused on X-23 herself. Perhaps this will be our first good look at X-23 in the film, something more than just her hand in Wolverine’s like in the first Logan poster, as either a new character poster or another teaser image.
Logan is directed by James Mangold and stars Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Eriq La Salle and Elise Neal.
The title, Logan, is likely an homage to the comic book story “Old Man Logan,” on which Logan is said to be loosely based.
Logan opens in theaters on March 3, 2017.
