While rumors have been swirling around who would be directing that movie, some fans have wondered who is going to feature in it. Sophie Turner is pretty much a lock, as is James McAvoy, but what about his First Class counterparts in Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender.

Now Josh Horowitz of MTV News is saying that Fassbender is very likely to appear in X-Men: Dark Phoenix as Magneto.

Fassbender previously appeared in First Class, Days of Future Past, and Apocalypse, but there was a question of whether he would continue with the franchise. Horowitz’s tweet seems to indicate that he is set to reprise is role as the Master of Magnetism, but don’t get your hopes up of seeing him elsewhere.

Horowitz added that more context will be provided in his podcast releasing this Wednesday.

UP NEXT: X-Men: Dark Phoenix Audition Videos Hint At Recasting Rogue?

The previous film in the series reintroduced Jean Grey, Cyclops, Angel, Storm, and Nightcrawler, while giving Quicksilver more prominence on the team.

Some audition tapes recently surfaced hinting that the production may recast the role of Rogue, previously played by Anna Paquin.

Another film from the previous trilogy, X-Men: The Last Stand, attempted to adapt the Phoenix storyline as well as Joss Whedon and John Cassady’s “Gifted” storyline from Astonishing X-Men. That movie was critically panned and helped 20th Century Fox in their decision to reboot the franchise with X-Men: First Class.

Hopefully we finally get a worthy adaptation for one of the most revered X-Men storylines in the beloved comic book’s history.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix currently has a 4.07 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating. Let us know how excited you are for X-Men: Dark Phoenix by giving the film your own user anticipation rating below.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is scheduled to open in theaters on Nov. 2, 2018.
