It’s time for X-Men fans to head back to school. WizKids is set to release Marvel HeroClix: X-Men Xavier’s School into game stores and ComicBook.com has an unboxing.

Xavier’s School focuses on the school dynamic and really commits to the theme. The set features headmasters and students from various generations, eras, and classes of X-Men. These include Professor X and the first class X-Men, the New Mutants, Generation X, the Academy X students, and students from Wolverine’s Jean Grey School for Higher Learning and Cyclops’ New Charles Xavier School.

The set also features the original X-Factor – the first time the original five X-Men struck out on their own โ€“ as well as several of the wayward mutant children including Rusty, Skids, Artie, and Leech.

The set’s chase theme is a return to the Age of Apocalypse. The dystopian versions of the original five x-men โ€“ Dark Beast, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Iceman, and Angel โ€“ are chase figures in the new HeroClix set along with the Age of Apocalypse’s Sinister. Unfortunately, we did not pull a chase in our unboxing, but you can see our exclusive preview of chase Cyclops as well as the title character Professor X, Dreamer here.

Xavier’s School brings ID cards to the X-Men. This time the ID cards are split into two different types. The Xavier School Teacher ID Cards function identically to the ID Cards that have come before. For 5 points, a play can add a teacher ID Card to their force. By using an action on a character on their force, they can expend that ID card to summon its character onto the playing field for a turn. In addition, the summoned figure grants adjacent characters an inspiration bonus.

Xavier’s School Student ID Cards function similarly. The difference is that they cost only 3 points and have no inspiration abilities. As an added bonus, the headmaster figures in the set are able to add one Student ID Card to a player’s force for free.

Check out the video above to see what we pulled and check out the attached gallery for a full gallery of HeroClix figures.

Marvel HeroClix: X-Men Xavier’s School goes on sale in game stores in February.
