Tom Holland debuted as the new Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, after Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios reached an agreement to share the rights to Spider-Man so that the character could appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In Captain America: Civil War, Iron Man recruited Spider-Man onto his side of the conflict with Captain America over the provisions of the Sokovia Accords, a United Nations mandate that would require the Avengers and other superheroes to register with the government and operate only with government consent.
Iron Man will continue to mentor the young Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Iron Man provides Spider-Man with a new suit capable of all kinds of things and gives him some advice. However, while Spider-Man is ready to try out to become a full-time Avenger, Iron Man would prefer the teenager remain a “friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man.”
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be just the first of at least four planned appearances for Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Spider-Man: Homecoming currently has a 4.10 out of 5 ComicBook User Anticipation Rating, making it the eighth most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers.
