Even though Peter Parker is a genius, bursting with new creative ideas, he's just a sophomore in high school, so you can't expect him to have neither the time nor the money to create a highly-advanced costume. However, his mentor Tony Stark is flush with cash and will build and give his young pupil a state-of-the-art superhero suit(s) in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
This baby has got all the bells and whistles. The Wall-Crawler's chest insignia is a drone that can detach from the suit and do recon for him. It has its own J.A.R.V.I.S.-like operating system. There's an auto-fit setting that allows him put on and take off the suit with ease. It's equipped with web-wings, so now Spidey can glide through the air when there are no skyscrapers to swing on. His web-shooters are outfitted with a variety of webbing and a laser targeting system. His GPS system is furnished with a holographic display and attached to his wrist.
"There's actually a precedent for a lot of these ideas in these comics," Watts explained to the Los Angeles Times."In the very first issue of Spider-Man, there was one page dedicated to all the different things that Spider-Man can do with his webs. We would always joke about that because there's web skis, and a web boat, and a web shield."
Since Peter is a kid, is there any chance he'll doing something silly with the drone, like pick up a take-out order? "I think it's all supposed to be strictly for crime fighting," Watts said. "But I don't think 'droney' would be opposed to picking up some take-out if that's what Peter needed for his mission."
How inventive will Peter get with his web-creations? "We don't go quite as far as having web skis," Watt said. "But you do get to see the webs doing more than just a regular strand."
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
The cast features Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr., Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Logan Marshall-Green, and Marisa Tomei.
The film is being directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car), based on a screenplay by Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley (Vacation reboot) and Jon Watts & Christopher Ford and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers.
