3 Jedi That Are Secretly More Powerful Than Anakin Skywalker

Any Force user who enters the Jedi Temple in Star Wars and begins training learns about the Chosen One. A prophecy foretells that a powerful individual will eventually reveal themselves and restore balance to the Force by defeating the Sith. It all sounds too good to be true, but when Qui-Gon Jinn meets a young Anakin Skywalker on Tatooine, he believes he’s in the presence of the Chosen One. The Jedi Council doesn’t buy it at first, and the members don’t even want to train Anakin because he’s too old. Well, he proves them all wrong by becoming the most decorated Jedi of all time.

During the Clone Wars, Anakin comes into his own as a warrior and obliterates nearly every roadblock in his way. However, arrogance is his greatest weakness, as he can’t accept the fact that there are a select few across the galaxy who can stand against him. Here are three Jedi who are secretly more powerful than Anakin.

3) Obi-Wan Kenobi

Qui-Gon’s apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi, has a hard time wrapping his head around the Anakin situation, but he takes the young man under his wing. Still, Obi-Wan struggles while teaching Anakin because his pupil’s raw strength is unlike anything he’s seen before. The battles they face together are no joke, and Anakin almost always takes the lead because of his hot-headedness.

What Anakin doesn’t pay attention to is the fact that, while his master likes to wait for the right moment to strike, Obi-Wan can get on his level when he needs to. On two separate occasions, the Jedi who makes defense his calling card defeats the Chosen One, and the third time they meet on the battlefield, he doesn’t even bother putting up a fight because his mission is bigger than a one-on-one victory.

2) Mace Windu

The Jedi most skeptical of Anakin is Mace Windu, who doesn’t seem to cut the kid any slack. He takes every opportunity to bash the young Jedi and even outright embarrasses him, such as when he scolds him for being upset about not being granted the rank of master. Well, Anakin gets his chance to get back at his biggest critic in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

When Mace takes a group of Jedi to arrest Chancellor Palpatine, all of them die but him, forcing him to face off against the Dark Lord of the Sith alone. It’s clear that Palpatine is holding back a bit because he wants Anakin to see the hypocrisy of the Jedi, but Mace is no slouch. In a fair fight, he uses his knowledge of both the light and dark sides to teach Anakin a lesson about keeping his cool.

1) Luke Skywalker

Despite having reservations about teaching Anakin at nine years old, Obi-Wan starts Luke Skywalker’s training at nineteen. Fortunately, the moisture farmer takes to the Jedi game quickly and uses the Force to help destroy the Death Star in Star Wars: A New Hope. Of course, he suffers a major loss in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back when he loses his hand, but he bounces back in a big way.

By the timeย Star Wars: Return of the Jediย rolls around, Luke is the ultimate Jedi, proving to have better control of the Force than his father ever did. His lightsaber skills aren’t bad, either, as he easily defeats his dear old dad during their battle on the second Death Star. Whereas Anakin never reaches his full potential, Luke becomes everything the Chosen One was supposed to be.
