Walt Disney and Lucasfilm announced the release dates for a whole slew of 2019 films, and the fifth Indiana Jones movie had been moved off of the list. The film’s original release date of July 19, 2019 has been taken by Jon Favreau’s live-action adaptation of The Lion King.

Now, with that shift being made official, the new Indiana Jones movie will hit theaters almost one year later, on July 10, 2020.

This isn’t a surprise to many, as the project has stayed mainly out of the public eye to this point. It was announced that Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford would both return for the next film, and that David Koepp was writing the screenplay, but no other details had been revealed.

With all of the movies Disney is releasing in 2019 – Star Wars; Episode XI, The Lion King, Frozen 2 – the slate was pretty crowded. This gives Spielberg & Co. some time to do the movie the right way, and bring fans what they’ve been asking for.

The next movie from Lucasfilm is Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and it hits theaters in December.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi, from writer/director Rian Johnson, is in post-production now for a December 15, 2017, release. The film follows-up and continues the story of the next generation of the saga as Rey, Poe, Finn, and Kylo Ren find their place in the galaxy and follow the legacy of Luke Skywalker, Leia, and Han Solo. Daisy Ridley returns to star as Rey, with other returning stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong’o Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern join the cast in as-yet-unrevealed roles.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is slated for release on December 15, 2017. Han Solo: A Star Wars Story hits on May 25, 2018.
